These are shots I took with my camera during demos. The photo students will be most interested in is perhaps the group shot in the last rows on this page.
Many of these photos are illustrating the manipulation of depth of field, the amount distance that is in sharp focus. The smaller the aperture the slower the shutter, the larger the aperture the faster the shutter to get a proper balanced exposure. But the aperture diameter is what determines depth of field. The challenge is to manipulate the light, focual length and shutter speed of your camera and lens to render the amount of your image you want in sharp focus. Longer focal length lenses work best for these creative shots as does lower light opposed to bright light. Note in the portraits and flower shots where the background is out of focus consequently calling attention to the object in the foreground. The shots featuring two profiles also is a study in how you can manipulate depth of field for illustrative purposes. |
